In November 2007 my mom opened the doors on a new salon and spa.

In 2008 recession struck. There was fear, uncertainty, and anxiety swirling all around.

My mom quickly grew her brand new business into a seven figure company, during a recession.

I was 18 and watching with awe. I heard all the talk on the news about how hard things were for people right now, and I saw my mom growing her dream anyway.

And we weren’t selling necessities. We weren’t a grocery store selling eggs or a corner market where folks would fill up their tanks.

We were offering a luxury service, with some of the highest prices in our community.

Learning that truth at 18 has made me the successful business owner that I am at 35, now along side my mom as her business partner.
